I’m a better cook than you are.

The other morning I was preparing our breakfast- a new cooler weather favorite- cinnamon toast. I use granola bread with raisins. I lightly “butter” the bread with light smart balance. Then I sprinkle sugar over the bread and shake cinnamon over the sugar. Then I take a knife and kind of smoosh it all flat. The bread goes on a baking sheet and into the oven (that has been heating at 350 degrees while I am prepping the bread) for ten minutes.

And it is gooooood. And it is perfect. And it is THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE CINNAMON TOAST.

Except obviously it isn’t. Because, like many things that we love to eat, there is a certain way or recipe that we use. And only that recipe will do. Even something as basic and simple as cinnamon toast can be made differently.

I asked on twitter last week how to make cinnamon toast and here is what I was told (click tweets to enlarge):

This melting of the better seems to add too many steps.

But HOW?

Dump excess? Where? In my belly?

Clearly someone that knows what they are talking about!

Beyond sweet and yummy breakfast toast there are many, many things that we all cook for our families and we believe that we cook them the best. Here is where we put it all out there. The WWTK recipe exchange. But this isn’t like any other recipe exchange you have witnessed. Instead of gathering an assortment we want recipes of the exact same meal. Because when it all comes down to it- we all pretty much love the same foods. Am I right?

How will this work? Easy. I announce the dish and you guys e-mail me your recipes. If you have photos or stories about the recipes please share that as well- it makes everything taste better! When I have a good number of recipes to share I will put up a post and everybody wins. If you decide to make something from a recipe you see here we hope that you will let us know so that the person that shared their recipe can now add you their family tree.

Below is a photo of our e-mail to keep the robots away:

& you can always use our contact form to reach us. (& fine, if you are a robot that cooks you can e-mail us…who are we to judge?)

Ready for the first dish?

Macaroni & Cheese.

Oh yes. I know my recipe is better than yours. Ready to face off?

so the advantage to melting the butter — which I should have clarified! — is that you make a small batch of the cinnamon-sugary-buttery goodness and save it. so it’s actually one LESS step next time. that is, IF you don’t eat it all at once (= big if).

oh and my favorite toast is challah, though I’d probably eat it on anything.

I’m assuming that Kraft Dinner doesn’t count here (but it is the only way to make mac ‘n’ cheese). :)

Please pardon me for simply sharing a link here, but I feel that simply posting the recipe will not do my mac and cheese justice.

Go to the link and look at the final product. Oh my. This is my “go to” for all family meals, gathering with friends, and all other opportunities to show off. Make it. Your family and friends deserve it.
